I have a confession: I measure a town by its rib bones. Arlington Heights, that sprawling patch of commuter comfort between the expressway and the racetrack, might not seem like a smokehouse capital, but the bark here runs deep.

The spread ranges from the polished, pricey brisket at Big Ange’s to the gloriously messy pulled pork at Porky’s, where the cashier remembers your order. I nearly wept into a tray of creamy mac and cheese.

Consider this your map to the rack.

Best BBQ ever
Tender, delicious brisket
Custom sauces at counter
Fresh chicken tenders
Refreshing lemonade
Great ambiance, owners
Local gem, worth price

Big Ange's Eatery surprised me in the best way. The brisket was so tender it practically fell apart at the touch of a fork, and the house-made sauces at the counter let me customize each bite. I also grabbed the chicken tenders, which were perfectly crispy on the outside and juicy inside. The lemonade hit the spot on a warm afternoon. The owners clearly care about the place, making the vibe welcoming and unpretentious. It's a bit pricier than some spots, but you genuinely get what you pay for here. If you're serious about barbecue, this place earns its reputation. I'll be back.

Juicy meats, friendly cashier
Tender brisket, creamy sides
Cozy, laid-back atmosphere
Smoky pulled pork standout
Outstanding, attentive service

Porky's BBQ and Catering gave me one of those relaxed, no-frills meals that stick with you. The meats were juicy across the board, but the smoked pulled pork stole the show with a deep, smoky flavor and a pleasing tang. The sides were creamy and rich, pairing well with the tender brisket. The cashier was friendly and patient, which made the experience even better. It's a cozy, laid-back spot where you can sit back and enjoy every bite without rush. The service was attentive without hovering. For solid, honest barbecue that hits the mark, this is a place I'd gladly recommend to anyone nearby.
